The Book of Hebrews (Part 5)

Jesus is our representative before God. He is the One who offers the sacrifice for sin. He is compassionate and gentle on the ignorant and those going astray. He has been appointed by God as our high priest for all eternity. The suffering, anguish, and pain that he experienced was at a level of intensity that none of us will ever experience. That means we can go to him for anything. God wants us to grow up and dive deep into the truths of Jesus Christ. He wants us to hunger for the meat of Christ and be skilled in the word of righteousness. Feast with us this morning as we unveil our Jesus Christ as our Great High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek today from Hebrews chapter five.

The Book of Hebrews (Part 4)

The past 3 weeks we have seen how JESUS IS GREATER than the angels and Moses (Heb. 1-3). Today we will learn how Jesus is greater than Joshua! Joshua was not able to lead the Israelites into God’s promised rest (Heb. 4:8). But God doesn’t slam the door on His promises (Heb. 4:6-7). He is ever faithful. The promise to enter into His rest and cease from our works just as He did from His is open to us today! (Heb. 4:10). When Jesus says He will give us rest when we come to Him, we can take that to the bank (Matt. 10:28). Jesus doesn’t lie. His promises are good. We are to make every effort to enter into the rest of our Lord (Heb. 4:11). For from that position we are happy, at peace, and fruitful. We are confident in the One who loves us and sits on a throne of grace! (Heb 4:16).

The Book of Hebrews (Part 3)

Chapter 3 of Hebrews shows us how Jesus is worthy of MORE GLORY than Moses. The theme of Jesus’s greatness as our Apostle and High Priest is touched on. Christ is calling us to enter his rest TODAY. He is still saying, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” We don’t have to be like the Israelites in the wilderness who had evil hearts of unbelief. We don’t have to shrink back in fear. We too can be at rest with the One who is seated at the right hand of the Majesty and who has purified us from all our sins!

The Book of Hebrews (Part 2)

Chapter 2 of Hebrews continues with the theme of how Jesus is greater than the angels! His SPEECH is greater and we should diligently listen to it. For His speech is about the GREAT SALVATION He has brought. Not only is His speech greater than the angels, but His ACTIONS are greater. He came from heaven, became man, and reclaimed what man had lost. We can look to him in all the chaos we are going through. For he is reigning on high and we are one with Him! He was made perfect through His sufferings and by death He DEFEATED DEATH and was raised to become our GREAT HIGH PRIEST. We no longer need to fear death and we can go to Him as One who is merciful and understands everything we are going through. JESUS IS GREAT! Join us!

The Book of Hebrews (Part 1)

Join us as we begin our new series on the book of Hebrews! This is a book that has to deal with how JESUS IS GREATER than everything. This morning we will look at chapter one of Hebrews. The opening of Hebrews deals with how the revelation Jesus brings is greater than anything that has been brought before as well as how Jesus is much greater than the angels of heaven. Let us not shrink back from the good news of what God has done through His Son! For in the Son we have EVERYTHING we need!

“Miracles, Signs, and Wonders” (Part 8)

We will be concluding our series this morning by looking at one of the greatest miracles recorded in Scripture! As Israel was making its way into the promised land it soon made a covenant of peace with one of the people groups that dwelled there, Gibeon. Soon after that covenant Gibeon was surrounding by five kings who came against them with a strong and vicious attack. What were they to do!? They called for Joshua—their new covenant partner. Joshua responded and when he came in their midst with a host of mighty men of valor, he did something astonishing to bring a decisive victory on Gibeon’s behalf. He commanded the sun and moon to stand still! And they listened! (Josh 10:12-14). Talk about speaking to mountains! God is at work in our battles and this story has much to teach us. Listen in.

“Miracles, Signs, and Wonders” (Part 7)

Jesus is our Great Physician. He is the Healer of our souls and bodies. After preaching his most famous sermon, “The Sermon on the Mount,” in Matthew chapters 5 through 7, Jesus comes down from the mountain and immediately proceeds to heal ten different people throughout the course of Matthew chapters 8 and 9. Each of these miraculous stories teach us something about how Jesus administers healing in our midst. Join us as we catch a glimpse of the great love and grace that was displayed in the healing ministry of Jesus. May Christ open our hearts to His word and by His Spirit come in our midst to “bind up wounds,” “open eyes,” and make us whole.

“Miracles, Signs, and Wonders” (Part 6)

Psalm 133 is a powerful Psalm concerning who we are collectively in Christ. We are those who have been engraved on Christ’s heart and have been anointed with the precious Holy Spirit who flows from the Father and through the Son. John tells us “you have an anointing from the Holy One” (1 John 2:20). The precious Spirit that is poured over the body of Christ brings beautiful unity in the church (Ps 133:1). For there is no strife in the Spirit but rather love. As we walk in our identity of who we are in our Great High Priest who is seated in heaven, and who we are as His anointed priests, we can speak and pray in confidence. We can expect signs to follow believers and miracles to manifest in our midst because all is from God. Visualizing our place in our Great High priest and being still before the precious Spirit helps us put our full confidence God and not ourselves.
