After King Saul dies God establishes David as king over all Israel. David immediately goes about securing all of the land that God had promised His people, including the future capitol, Jerusalem. As God’s people are united together with one purpose and the heart of their king, God does mighty things in their generation. When Christians think about King Saul, many think of him as a wicked king. As a crazed man, tormented by demons, one who wanted to kill David. As the spiritually bankrupt king who could no longer hear from the Lord so he instead consulted with the witch of Endor. But that is the end of King Saul’s life. The beginning of his life is actually filed with humility, Spirit-led ministry, and great victory in battle. Many Jews think of him primary in this way. One thing Peter Leithart points out in his book is how many parallels there are between the Gideon, and the story of Saul. And later that there are parallel’s between Gideon’s son, Abimelech, and the fallen Saul. Join our Bible Study as we learn lessons from the life of Saul and his son Jonathan!

CHRONICLES - LESSONS ABOUT THE KINGDOM FROM THE OT
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
The people of God who are a light to the world, and God’s priestly nation, are primary a kingdom of worship. It is not the throne which is the center of the community, but the temple. The king on the throne is just meant to be a servant of the King of kings on the higher throne in the Holy of Holies. Chronicles teaches that it is from rightly ordered worship, and a rightly ordered heart, that justice flows for their nation and the nations of the world. Join us as we see the major themes of Chronicles in the opening chronologies!

PENTECOST SUNDAY
Friday Jul 17, 2020
Friday Jul 17, 2020
When the Spirit is present, life is present. In the book of Romans the Holy Spirit is called “the Spirit of Life.” He is the one who brooded over the face of the waters in the beginning before created life began to spring forth at the command of the Word of God. In fact, every “new creation” in Scripture is tied into the presence of the Spirit. He is the Wind of heaven and Breath of new life. Join us as celebrate the Gift of the Spirit and seek to see His presence in operation in our lives as we reopen the doors of our church!

BIBLE STUDY—RAISING A GENERATION WHO KNOWS THE LORD
Friday Jul 17, 2020
Friday Jul 17, 2020
After the two unbelieving priests, Hophni and Phinehas, had led Israel into disobedience and unbelief, God was going to do a new work through the ministry of Samuel. Samuel would lead a generation to believe the Lord and follow him. The generation that followed Hophni and Phinehas into battle died. The generation that followed Samuel into battle had the victory! And even in all of the sin and disobedience of the prior generation, God was working behind the scenes bringing deliverance. Join us!

GOD AND GOVERNMENT
Friday Jul 17, 2020
Friday Jul 17, 2020
The theme of our church this year is: The Kingdom of God. This morning we will be looking at the various governmental jurisdictions God has set up in His world. This Sunday is also “Ascension Sunday.” We celebrate the day when Jesus “was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19). Jesus right now is the King of kings and the Lord of lords (Rev. 1:5; 19:16). What does His reign mean in light of the various family, ecclesiastic, and civil governments of our world? We are citizens of heaven (Phil. 3:20), but we are also citizens of in the country, state, and county we live in. How are we called to be good and honorable citizens in both spheres? Join us!

We will be seeing that God is always at work behind the scenes when all looks bleak. Join us!

THE KINGDOM OF GOD — BUILDING ON THE ROCK
Thursday Jul 16, 2020
Thursday Jul 16, 2020
Jesus ends the sermon on the mount by giving a parable. He says that those who practice the things He has just taught will be like those who build their house on a rock. Those who do not practice the teachings of the sermon will be like those who build their house on sand. When the storms of life come, and they *will* come, only the house that is built on the rock will stand. Only those who have truly “followed” Jesus rather than simply been “amazed” by His teaching will have a secure foundation in life. Join us!
